Comic Con Reveals/ Announcements

Oh look a sequel to Man of St–OH MY GOD THATS THE BAT LOGO. I'm Linus Schill, and this is my discussion on recent announces and reveals at the SDCC.

With the San Diego Comic Con in full swing, many studios have taken this time to reveal/announce new projects they are working on. I am going to go through the big ones, and talk about what I think of them.

Man of Steel Sequel
After the success of the first Man of Steel, it was clear that a sequel was going to be in production quick. Marvel had not hesitated to plan the next 5 movies in their cinematic universe including an Avengers sequel, and DC needed to step it up. Well as it turns out, they have. Recently it was announced that in 2015 a Superman/Batman movie will be released. No title or plot details were said, but everyone is speculating, naming it Worlds Finest, based on the comic where Batman and Superman star together. This is obviously the Batman reboot we have been waiting for after Chris Nolan made it very clear that his universe was done. This is a smart move on DC's part, seeing as Batman and Superman are the most common known superheroes, and getting them in the same movie will build up hype for a future Justice League movie. All that remains is who will play the role of Batman? Everyone has their own superstar they want to see put on the mask, but it remains to be seen.

Avengers: Age of Ultron
Marvel also had a fairly large announcement to make. Everyone knew that there was going to be an Avengers 2, phase 2 is already in full throttle, it was just a matter of time to know what it was going to be entitled. Everyone assumed that Thanos would make an appearance in Guardians of the Galaxy, which would lead into Avengers 2. However, it was announced that the title would be Avengers: Age of Ultron. Ultron is a robot with artificial intelligence that goes bad, but this is where people are now at a loss of words. Ultron was created by Hank Pym, also known as Ant Man. However, Joss Whedon specifically said that Ant Man was not going to be in Avengers 2, but will get a stand alone movie in Phase 3. Now it seems that Tony Stark will be the one that creates Ultron. Now this must have been in the works for a while, because it sort of ties in to how some of the suits in Iron Man 3 were buggy when he was remote controlling them. What ever it is, no plot is known other than the title Age of Ultron.
Dawn of the Planet of the Apes
When Rise of the Planet of the Apes came out in 2011, it left itself lots of room to make a sequel, while still closing it off incase it wasn't successful. As it turns out it was, pulling in $480 million at the box office, so we all knew a sequel was coming. In May of 2012, it was officially announced with the name Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. Set pictures have surfaced on Twitter, but not until SDCC did the first image of a full complete ape show up, and here it is:
As a first image, I think it looks great. We see Caesar looking older, some gray hairs showing up. You can tell that they are communicating, and about to fight a battle. Especially with the war paint on his face. I can assume that the staff he is holding is also a spear, showing his high status. This only makes me more excited.

Thank you for reading my discussion of the big things going on at ComicCon. Be sure to check out all of our reviews, we have 48 to date! See you next time!
